At halfway stage of the game West Indies looks a firm favorite to win one-off twenty20 international played on Sunday but Zimbabwe spinners turn the fortune in their favor with some superb spin bowling.
With just 106 runs to get in 20 overs, West Indies could have manage it easily but their batsmen seems too defensive against the Zimbabwe spinners and in the end the target of 106 runs looks like they were chasing 180 plus in their 20 overs.
On a day when Australia and New Zealand blasted the highest Twenty20 match aggregate during a nailbiter in Christchurch, Prosper Utseya’s team won a game in which both sides made their lowest ever Twenty20 scores.
The pitch helped the spinner’s right from the first ball of the game at Queen’s Park Oval. Zimbabwe looked down and out of the game in the first three overs of the match having lost four wickets for just 11 runs on the board. But with the help of some clever and patient knock from H.Masakadza (44 runs of 57 balls) and E.Chigumbura (34 runs of 19 balls) they manage to get pass 100 run mark.
This game also produced the record for most number of ducks in a game (total eight ducks scored in this game).
Chasing the target of 106 for victory, Zimbabwe restricted the West Indies for just 79 runs to snatch 26 runs win in the only T20 Internationals.
AG Cremer was declared Player of the Match for his match winning spell in the low scoring encounter.
