World CUP 2011 Cricket Schedule-Fixtures

Cricket World Cup 2011ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 will be hosted by the Asian giants India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Pakistan will not host a single game because of the security concern in the Pakistan.

There will be 49 total numbers of matches will be played in the tournament out of which 29 matches will be played in India, 12 games will be hosted by Sri Lanka and 8 games will be hosted by Bangladesh. India will host fourth quarter final in Ahmedabad, 2nd semi final in Mohali and Final will be played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. While Sri Lanka will host the 2nd quarterfinal and 1st semi final in R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo and Bangladesh will host 1st and 3rd quarterfinal in Mirpur, Dhaka.

2011 world cup will be shorter as compared to the 2007 world cup, the number of matches will be reduced by 2 and the duration of the tournament will be shorten by a week as compared to 2007 world cup.

There will be total 14 participating teams in the tournament with each divided into two groups containing seven teams in each group. India and Pakistan, Australia and South Africa find themselves in different groups for the 2011 World Cup. India is placed in Group B along with South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland and Netherlands.

Group A contains Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Canada.  The opening game of the tournament will be played between hosts India and Bangladesh on 19th of February 2011 at Mirpur, Dhaka. The quarter-finals will be played in Dhaka on March 23 and 25, in Ahmedabad on March 24 and in Colombo on March 26 while the two semi-finals will be played in Colombo and Mohali on March 29 and 30. The renovated Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will host the final on April 2. There will be total 13 venues will be used for the tournament.
