Suresh Raina bludgeoned a brilliant 101 runs of just 60 balls to help India to register their second consecutive win in twenty20 2010. India beat South Africa by 14 runs to enter the super 8’s in great style.
Chasing the target of 187 for victory, South Africa didn’t got they start as they have liked and in the end they have left too much to do for the bastman like AB Devilliers and A.Morkel.
Despite of some good hitting in the end by G.Smith (36 runs of 28 balls), J.Kallis (73 runs of 54 balls), AB Devilliers (31 runs of 15 balls) and A.Morkel (12 runs of 7 balls) they fell short by 14 runs. In early overs they never get going with some tight spin bowling, they have corssed 50 runs mark in the 9th over. By the time Grame Smith and Kallis decided to take some risk it was too late for them to chase down 14 runs an over.
Earlier after put into bat, Indians struggles against some good seem bowling from South Africans. M.Vijay who scored 48 runs in the previous game out for first ball duck in the very first over of an inning. D.Karthik (16 runs of 17 balls) also struggle to get going and finally departed for hard-fought 17 runs in the 6th over to leave India struggling at 32/2 in the 6th over.
Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh both struggled to get their timing right at start so they have decided to just play themselves in for few overs before deciding to go all out against the South African bowling attack. Both batsmen put on 88 runs of 62 balls for the third wicket to not only put India right back into the game but also allowed other batsmen to go out and play there shots right from the ball one.
Yuvraj Singh who struggle for form in the IPL, looked to get into groove with 37 runs of 30 balls. Suresh Raina who struggled early on with 19 runs of 22 balls he faced went on to score 101 runs of 60 deliveries. With the help fo some late power hitting India scored 75 runs of last 5 overs which allowed them to put on massive 186/5 in their 20 overs.
S.Raina was declared Man of the Match for his blistering knock of 101 runs of 60 balls.
