New Zealand thrashed Australia by 2 Wickets in 1st ODI

In a close fought game, New Zealand beat Australia by two wickets to take 1-0 lead in five match ODI series against the mighty Australians. Chasing the target of 276 for victory, New Zealand achieved the target with brilliant knock by Scott Styris (49 runs of 34 balls) with four balls to spare.

But as soon as Taylor got out the drama begins with the flourish of wicket and it was left to experience Scott Styris to guide New Zealand home which he did with perfection.

Earlier Australia after winning the toss elected to bat first on beautiful batting condition at McLean Park, Napier. With the help of consistence performance from their top and middle orders they were able to put a respectable 275/8 on the board at the end of 50 overs.

The next ODI will be played at Auckland on 6th of March 2010.
