Murali to retire from Cricket after 2011 World Cup

Muthaiya Muralitharan announces his retirement plan on Wednesday. The most wicket takers in test cricket will retire from the longest version of the game at the end of this year while he will take retirement from T20I and ODI after 2011 World Cup to be played in March – April.
The Sri Lankan player M.Muralitharan just needs 8 more wickets to become the first bowler in test cricket history to have taken 800 wickets in test cricket. He has 792 wickets in his bag in 132 Tests. He will end his career on the tour of West Indies later this year where he and his team will play two matches test series.
He also confirmed that he will play in third edition of the IPL twenty20 2010 for Chennai Super Kings despite a threat by terror outfit al-Qaeda and also urged his teammates to go and play in India.

I’m glad that Murali got his 800th wicket on 22 July 2010. That was his final ball at a test match!
