Kings XI Punjab beat Chennai Super Kings in Super Over

Who have thought at half-way stage of the game, that men in red will win this game and that too by Super Over? So finally Kings XI Punjab somehow manages to register their first win against Chennai Super Kings and in IPL season3 by beating the local team in Super Over.

Chasing the target of 137 runs for victory Chennai Super Kings fell short by 1 runs to produce first tie of IPL season3. After put into bat first Kings XI Punjab just manages 136/8 in their 20 overs despite some lusty hitting by Irfan Pathan (39 runs of 32 balls) and Yuvraj Singh (43 runs of 28 balls). In the first 10 overs of their inning, they were struggling to reach even 120 run mark after batting failure from Ravi Boapara (1 run of 8 balls), Kumar Sangakara (15 runs fo 16 balls) and M.Jayawardne (3 runs fo 5 balls).

Once Raina got out in the 13th over all started to fall in place of Kings XI Punjab, as they manage to pick wickets at regular intervals and that gave them an outside chance of winning this game when Chennai needed 10 runs in the last over bowled by Irfan Pathan to A.Morkel and R.Ahswin which reads: top edge four to third man, missed byes for two runs thanks to overthrow by Sangakara and Pathan, single of third ball, carved for two runs, missed by R.Ashwin, Ashwin hold out to Kaif at mid-off and the match ended in a tie.

For Super Over, Chennai nominated A.Morkel, M.Hayden and S.Raina as a batters and M.Muralitharan as bowler and Kings XI Punjab nominated M.Jayawardne, Yuvraj Singh and Irfan Pathan as their batters and J.Theran as bowler.
