IPL Twenty20 – Kolkata Knight Riders end IPL 2010 campaign on high

Kolkata may not have made to the last four of IPL 2010 but they have show to the world that they are capable of beating one of the best team of this season in their last league game against Mumbai Indians.

It could have been different story if they could have won their game against Kings XI Punjab which they lost after putting up more than 200 runs on the board. However the good thing for them that they have beaten the most outstanding and consistent teamp of this season IPL.

Mumbai Indians who have rested some of their key players for this match lead by D.Bravo. After winning the toss Mumbai Indians have no hesitation in electing to bat first but Shane Bond dismissed both the openers cheaply to put KKR in command right from the first over.

Apart from Saurav Tiwary (46 runs of 37 balls), no batsman able to get going on slow turing wicket. At one stage they were struggling to even reach 120 runs mark but thanks to A.Rayadu (27 runs of 15 balls) who played some good shot to get Mumbai Indians total to 133/8 in their 20 overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders needed to achieve the target in just 4 overs to knocked off Royal Challengers Bangalore from semi final spot but it was impossible to do that and that’s why they have stick to their plan and played causiously. Sourav Ganguly once again starred with the bat making 42 runs of 36 balls with two huge sixes to his name. He and B.McCullum put 97 runs for the first wicket to make the job easier for their team. In the end McCullum (57* runs of 56 balls) and D.Hussey (20* runs of 14 balls) guided KKR to a comfortable 9 wickets win over Mumbai Indians.

Not surprisingly this was the first win for KKR against Mumbai Indians in IPL. Prior to this game both teams has played 5 games and KKR lost all of them.

M.Kartik was declared Man of the Match for his super bowling and fielding performance.

  1. In the great scheme of things you’ll get a B- for hard work. Where exactly you confused me personally was first in your details. As as the maxim goes, details make or break the argument.. And it couldn’t be more correct in this article. Having said that, allow me say to you what exactly did work. The article (parts of it) can be incredibly powerful which is probably the reason why I am taking the effort in order to opine. I do not really make it a regular habit of doing that. Secondly, while I can easily notice the leaps in reasoning you make, I am definitely not convinced of just how you appear to unite the points which in turn make the actual final result. For the moment I will, no doubt subscribe to your position but hope in the foreseeable future you actually link the facts better.
