India extend their Test Ranking lead after winning the Bangladesh Test series

Indian cricket team continued to dominate the World Number one ranking in test cricket with gain of one more points after beating Bangladesh in a test series by 2-0. While Indian master blaster batsman Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar and pacer Zaheer Khan also able to make it into the top 10 of ICC Ranking.

Sachin Tendulkar who started the Bangladesh series on 14th position has jumped five places to placed on 9th with 772 points, while top-ranked Gautam Gambhir has extended his advantage over South Africa’s Graeme Smith and Virender Sehwag has consolidated his sixth position, Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal is the other batsman to make an upward movement in the latest rankings that were released on Tuesday.

Now India has total 125 points, while second placed South Africa has 120 points and Australia who is placed 3rd with 118 points. This makes two match test series between India and South Africa more interesting with India will be playing to defend their crown while South Africa will play to regain their top spot.

South Africa needs to beat India by 1-0 or better to achieve the top spot while India need drawn in both the matches to secure their place. On the other hand if India manages to wins the series by 2-0, the Australia will jump to the second spot leaving South Africa behind by 2 points.
