Gambhir sits at top while Kallis and Amla rises in ICC Test Ranking for Batsman

Indian left handed opening batsman Gautam Gambhir despite of failures in both innings of Nagpur test able to maintain his top ranking in ICC Test Batsman Ranking table which is announced after India suffer a heavy defeat in the first test match at Nagpur.
Indian batsman is still leading the top spot followed by Sri Lankan former captain Mahela Jayawardne at second while Captain Kumar Sangakara at third. With the knock of 173 runs Jaques Kallis moved four places up to sits at the fourth position. While South African captain Graeme Smith slipped three places to be at fifth position.
Hashim Amla with superb match winning knock has moved first time of his career in top 10 ranking and now at 10th position just three rating points behind of Sachin Tendulkar.
The poor performance of Harbhajan Singh and Ishant Sharma in Nagpur Test pushed them little bit down in the ICC Ranking for the test bowlers. Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh dropped four places to 12th while Ishant Sharma, who went wicketless in the match and as a result drops seven places, out of the top 20 to 22nd position.
Left-arm spinner Paul Harris who took four wickets in a match moved up three places to ninth spot. Star bowler Dale Styen who has taken 10 wickets haul in Nagpur test is able to increase his leads at top spot of ICC ranking for the test bowlers.
In the team Ranking now both India and South Africa sits at Number one position and win or draw for South Africa in Eden Garden test will give them a chance to move ahead of India. On the other hand win for India in 2nd test will push South Africa back to number two positions.
